Is
it “Dr. Shaw” or “Slim Shaw” the Blues Man?
Just like Superman transposed himself from mild mannered Clark Kent to
the Superhero, Shaw From, known as our local “Dr. Shaw”, owner of Shaw’s
Athletics and ex tennis pro, transposes into “Slim Shaw”, one of Tallahassee’s
most imminent blues harmonica players and Blues vocalists. With his custom
blues hat and his soul shaking renditions of songs like Hoochie Coochie Man, he
is reminiscent of some of the old blues greats like Jr. Wells, Muddy Waters,
and more.
He is a dedicated musician who always makes time within his busy
schedule to practice and play live gigs with his band, The Wailin’ Wolves Band.
They play regularly at venues stretching from Albany, Ga to St Marks Place with
a high energy show featuring both a male, Shaw From, and a female, Tracy
Yacobellis, lead vocalists, 3 lead instruments, Shaw on harp, “Wailin’ Bert”
Calderon on lead/ rhythm guitar, and Jay Schwartz on keys, all backed by a
tight as gnat rhythm section composed of “BB” Bryant Williams on bass and Shawn
Scott on drums.
The band’s uniqueness is attributed to the large span in ages that mixes
new with old (ages 26 – 61), known around town as “playing everything from
Elvis to Adele” and crossing every genre with blues intonations and custom
arrangements peppered with unique originals. With
rave reviews and regular bookings, be sure to catch one of their shows and
bring your dancing shoes because they will keep you rockin’ all night long!
